Giorgos Kakagiannis holds a BSc from Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki, an MSc in Integrated Coastal Zone Management from the Department of Marine Sciences, University of the Aegean which is located in Lesvos Island, Greece. He is currently a PhD candidate in this institution, where his PhD thesis subject is in physical-biological interactions in the North Aegean Sea. His MSc thesis was a study of the seasonal coastal upwelling in the N.E. Aegean using data from the 'Poseidon' system. His BSc thesis was on the fisheries of the european anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus, 1758) and european sardine Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792) in the Greek Seas during 1964-1996. He holds a European Computer Driving License (ECDL), works programming languages (MatLab) and has experience in satellite images analysis with ERDAS Imagine, speaks fluent English and has worked with NGO's in Greece as a volunteer (WWF and Archelon). He is currently working with Organic Power investigating potential Energy projects in Lesbos.
